registered with the California Department of Boating and Waterways (License
# B-01740-17403-SM), a member of The Southern California Marine Association
(SCMA) and the American Boat and Yacht Council (ABYC). |

The
Southern California Marine Association was founded in October 1956 by
a group of concerned and dedicated marine industry leaders representing
forty-five different companies for the sole purpose of promoting, nurturing
and improving the recreational boating business in Southern California.

Responding to a mid-'50s boom in recreational boating, the American Boat & Yacht Council was formed by members of the Motorboat and Yacht Advisory Panel of the U.S. Coast Guard's Merchant Marine Council. It was incorporated on February 1, 1954, in New York State as a not-for-profit corporation. ABYC develops the voluntary consensus safety standards for the design, construction, equipage, maintenance and repair of small craft. ABYC is also a principal source for the development of international standards, by acting as the administrator for a Technical Advisory Group that writes standards for the marine industry worldwide. |
